PROGRAMME INDUSTRY SEMINAR 2010

What is ERES and what are its objectives?

The European Real Estate Society (ERES) was established in 1994 to create a structured and permanent network between real estate academics and professionals across Europe. ERES is dedicated to promoting and advancing the field of real estate research throughout Europe. Incorporating many national property research societies, academic researchers and real estate practitioners, our activities, such the annual conference, the industry seminars, education seminars and publications provide a forum for information flow and debate on research issues. ERES is a non-profit organisation affiliated with the International Real Estate Society, organisation giving us wider contact base in real estate.

The objectives of ERES are:

  • To encourage research and promote education in real estate and closely allied areas, especially in European Countries.
  • To improve communication and exchange information in real estate and allied matters among college/university faculty members and practitioners who are teaching or engaging in research in property, real estate and land use.
  • To facilitate the association of academic, practising professional and research persons in the area of real estate and closely allied areas.
  • To encourage professionalism in practices related to real estate and closely allied areas as well as other activities promoting the purposes of the foundation.
  • To organise events where researchers and educators in the broad area of real estate can interact.
  • To organise events where researchers and decision-makers from both universities and praxis can exchange their views with respect to the research needs in the field of real estate, but also discuss the best ways of using research results to enhance decision-making in the field to promote in any other feasible way the development of real estate research and education in Europe.

It publishes its own magazine JERER since 2008, annually organizes the prestigious  scientific conference, involving 300 to 400 participants. In June 2012 was held in Edinburgh already the 19th ERES conference. Mentioned conferences, several times were attended by representatives of UM STU - Prof. Koloman Ivanička, M.A., Ph.D., Assoc. Institute of Management of STU would like to apply for the organization of such a conference in the coming year. ERES organizes annually the so-called "Education seminar," which is devoted to the problem of education. The next Education seminar will be first held in Bratislava. It is an important forum for the exchange of experience about education from professionals of real estate disciplines at universities.
